1. Create your snail’s shell

Create a solid circle by spiraling wool together until it’s the size you like. Remember - felting will reduce the size of the wool by about 30%, so start a little bit larger than you’d like your final shape to be.

Felt your snail shell by poking with your needle - straight up and down, up and down.

2. Create your snail’s body

Choose your body color, and felt a long form that will be the base of your snail body. Use your shell to measure how large it should be. (After this step, you will create it’s head and antennas.)

3. Create your snail’s antennas

Use the same color wool as the body and felt two small tubular antennae. Begin with long oval shapes and felt gently, turning often. Turning is important - without it, the antennae will flatten instead of staying round.

Take a look at your snails “face” area - if you’d like there to be more of a shape there, felt a round form the size you’d like.

To attach the antennas and face form, put them against your snail body and use your needle to attach the two together.

4. Add a spiral to your snails shell

Choose your shell accent color, and take a long thin wisp of wool. Roll it between your hands until it’s the thickness that you like for your spiral. Lay it on your snail shell, and felt the spiral in.

5. Attach your shell to your snail body

Place your shell on top of your snails body, and use your needle to securely attach them!
