Form the neck
Start with a round ball of clay. Without separating any pieces, gently roll and elongate one side to form the neck. Continue shaping to your desired length, then carefully form a small beak at the end.
Tip: Be mindful not to make the neck too thin.
Create the dish
Press your thumb into the “body” of the duck to begin forming the dish. Gently pinch and shape the opening on the back, guiding the sides upward to resemble the body of a bird.
Finishing touches
Shape the tail and refine the beak and wings as you like. Smooth any rough spots or cracks using a small amount of water on your finger.
Seal
Lightly brush sealant over your dish to give it a soft sheen. If you prefer a matte finish, let us know and we’ll provide the appropriate sealant.
Let dry
Carefully transfer your dish to a box and leave it uncovered. Allow it to dry for 1–3 days.
